tuck is a notes app for iPhone, iPhone Duo and iPad, made by Rehaan Patel. this page says what happens to what you write.
the short version
tuck collects no data. there is no tuck account and no tuck server. your pages live on your phone and in your own iCloud, and nobody else, including us, can read them.
your pages
- your pages are stored on your device. if iCloud is on, they sync through your own private iCloud database, which only you can read. if iCloud is off or full, tuck keeps working on your device alone.
- tuck reads your lines on your device. reading dates, sums, places and timers never sends your words anywhere.
- pictures you scan or read are read on your device. the picture stays with its line, in your iCloud.
- if you ask tuck to find plans in your screenshots, they are read on your device. tuck keeps the words it found, never the picture.
calendar and reminders
tuck only adds to Calendar and Reminders when you tap add all or swipe a line, and only what you chose. it can take back out what it added. it does not read your other events or reminders.
network requests
tuck makes only these requests, and none of them contain your notes:
- exchange rates come from frankfurter.dev, which only sees that rates were asked for.
- when you paste a link, tuck asks that website for its title and picture, as Safari would. you can turn this off in settings.
- when tuck shows a map for a place, it asks Apple Maps where the place's address is, and only the address.
- purchases go through the App Store, under your Apple ID.
search, siri and widgets
your pages are added to your device's own search, so Siri and Spotlight can find them. widgets, the share sheet and timers keep what they need on your device only.
what we don't do
